The Women's Room at Friends In Deed

The Women’s Room at Friends In Deed opened on Sept. 13, 2007.
This safe, daytime refuge for women who are alone and homeless or at risk of homelessness is a loving environment where women gather to rest, socialize and support each other.

Currently The Women’s Room is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-4PM and Tuesdays, from 9AM-12noon.We will be opening on Wednesdays, from 1-4PM beginning in mid October.

Special programs are provided each day, such as movies with refreshments, spa days, manicures, book club discussions and games.

On the last Thursday of each month we celebrate birthdays and hold a special party.

A free telephone, computer, TV, magazines, games and prizes and a place to nap are available.

The Women’s Room was developed as an outreach of the All Saints’ Women’s Issues Committee (WIC).

For two years the women of WIC investigated problems associated with homelessness.

They learned that the most underserved portion of the population are homeless women. With the guidance of the Downtown Women’s Center, together with the staff of Friends In Deed, the women developed The Women’s Room, as a daytime gathering place.

A shower and washer and dryer have been installed and are used weekly by homeless women who participate in The Women's Room.
