Homeless Prevention Program

Friends In Deed is a key component in the
City of Pasadena’s Homeless Prevention Program.

By the time a person is at the point of eviction, their problems have multiplied.
Not only are they behind in their rent, but usually they have high utility bills, chaotic financial planning and have tapped out all their friends and neighbors.

The cause of eviction is usually a combination of issues: low income, roommates moving out, unexpected medical bills, difficult pregnancies, job loss or underemployment, car repair costs, long distance family emergencies.

At Friends in Deed we provide case management to support the individual or family in the process of unraveling and dealing with their issues one at a time.
We work with landlords and clients together, and have some funds available for rental assistance.

How does the program work?

1. Attend the “Event” on the first Wednesday of the month. Representatives from many city agencies are available to assist the individual with many of their problems at the same time. Beginning with “the Event” is a time saver.

2. Clients are screened at the event to make sure they are eligible. Only Pasadena residents who rent and have 3 or 30 day eviction notices are eligible for this program, as this is a program funded by the City of Pasadena.

3. The client sets up appointments to meet with our case manager,
Araceli Lopez, at 626-797-2402.

Other ways we help

Our case manager also assists those who call and set appointments who have other housing related issues. in order to give advice and support.
Call Araceli, 626-797-2402.

What if the person is already homeless?

A person who is homeless begins the process of securing housing at Passageways, which is the “passage way” to housing services in the City of Pasadena.
When appropriate, Passageways’ staff contact us for motel voucher.

Pasageways is located at 1020 S. Arroyo Parkway, Pasadena and can be reached at 626-403-4888
